Pantech on Monday announced the Vega R3, a device the company is touting as “the best existing quad-core smartphone” on the market. The device is aimed at capitalizing on the phablet trend — following right behind LG’s Intuition — measuring in with a 5.3-inch Natural IPS Pro liquid crystal display. Will it be better than Samsung’s Galaxy Note II?
“I dare tell competitors to learn from Pantech,” vice president Lee Joon-woo said during the company’s Gangnam launch event. That statement obviously shows that Pantech is more than confident in the new Vega R3, which comes with features that promise to improve end user experience significantly.
Among other features, Pantech developed “best face,” which is similar to Nokia’s “Smart Group Shot” introduced over the summer. Other features weren’t shared, but the company did say the device will come in an LTE-only flavor to stay competitive with today’s top devices.
The only remaining spec included in the report is a 2600 mAh battery, which reportedly “outperforms those of locally released handsets.” Pantech said that it captured the number two spot in market share last year, and hopes to emulate that success when the Vega R3 hits in South Korea soon.
